Our day begins with an unforgettable trip by cable car to the top of Table Mountain. The views of the peninsula, city and Table Bay are simply breathtaking and reflect the moods and colours of the changing seasons. Like an aged matriarch and great protector, Table Mountain stands serene and grand above the blue waters, which wash, its beautiful peninsula. It is the home of over 2,500 species of plants. Watered by streams, which cascade down its slopes in winter, these plants create a lively and colourful garden on the very doorstep of Cape Town.
Later, we leisurely visit the city and discover some of her inner secrets! Our ‘Rainbow Nation’ status, immortalised by Bishop Tutu is no more evident than in Cape Town. The ’Mother City’ has a rich, unique cultural history, which we’ll discover at our leisure. There’s so much to see. We could visit its historic castle. Take an unhurried stroll in the Company Gardens, established 350 years ago-the ‘green lung’ of Cape Town.
Shop and dine at the Victoria and Albert Waterfront, probably the best waterfront development in the world, with memorable attractions including a superb aquarium.
How about a half day trip by ferry to the infamous Robben Island, Mandela’s ‘home for thosands of days. Ours is a magnificent city, and Table Mountain serves as a continual source of inspiration for the embattled spirit of man. The classic view of it, from the island, is truly awe-inspiring.
